Author Biography
Hallmark lost her business when Booker was forced to create a birthday card for her mother after spending the money her father gave for it. Fortunately, her creativity turned out to be beautiful prose and a new way of showing her love. Years later she submitted an article to the local weekly edition of The Gardena Valley News where she was hired to write human-interest stories. Booker knew these stories added good news to the morning paper, but thought they would be more exciting if they were altered to fit her imagination; unable to stray from the truth, she used her talent, skill and determination to write, Family Secrets.
The avid reader who loved to write would find interesting books to read, but constantly stumbled over four-letter words and graphic sexual content that made her feel guilty about reading them. In an effort to offer an alternative to explicit reads, she wrote her first novel, a juicy page-turner that caters to people who are sensitive to vulgarity. The book is not a theological fact-based text or study guide; it’s just pure fiction, energetic, and fun.
Booker’s ultimate goal is to see her books hit New York’s bestseller list and the Big Screen, proving that nothing is impossible with God; that working steadily and smart, armed with determination and belief, dreams can be realized.
Dana Marie Booker lives in California with her husband of 26 years, a Realtor and Insurance Advisor. They have and raised their niece, a U.S. Naval Officer, a nephew who is a current high school senior, and their Toy Poodle. Booker has a Bachelors degree in Business Communications, owns two businesses, Clean Writers, Inc., and Your Mobile Notary. She enjoys: reading, music, movies, socializing, stimulating conversation, biking, and sun-bathing.
While Booker strives to deliver excellence, she keeps in mind that the Lord is in control; a realization that took years to accept. As an African American woman and business entrepreneur, earning a living through self-employment and the arts have been no easy task. Booker states that it can get difficult to stay on track and accomplish goals, but they are doable when they line up with God’s Word. Booker believes that reflecting on God’s Word and prayer has kept her grounded and at peace in trying times. Counting her blessings on a daily basis keeps her grateful and humble. She believes God’s gifts to us are blessings to be shared.
Her favorite scripture reassures God’s control…
“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29.11
